The European Azerbaijan School is seeking a highly effective, transformational urban instructional leader to drive change and dramatically improve the academic culture and student achievement. The selected candidate will have a proven track record of increasing and accelerating student achievement, as evidenced by performance data, and will be prepared to lead the students, staff, and community toward dramatic academic improvement and success. Reporting to the school principal, the successful candidate will, in collaboration with the school’s administrative team, ensure that all members of the community (students, teachers, parents and guardians) have high expectations for student achievement, and that academic culture and performance improve dramatically across the school. Responsibilities As a Deputy Principal, your typical work assignments may include the following: RESPONSIBILITIES The Assistant Principal will be responsible for assisting the principal in the following key areas: Shared Vision • Builds a shared vision for high student achievement and for college and career readiness • Promotes a culture of shared accountability • Effectively manages change and innovates to improve student achievement Supervision of Instruction • Supervises classroom instruction (Curriculum, Content and Pedagogy) • Utilizes multiple data sources to inform teaching and learning and to evaluate instructional program outcomes • Manages performance of all instructional staff through rigorous and effective evaluations Investing in Teacher Quality • Differentiates professional development opportunities to ensure growth for all staff • Increases teacher effectiveness by placing, and retaining effective staff • Promotes and supports leadership team and teacher leadership opportunities Culture of Learning and Positive Behavior • Creates and maintains a positive culture of learning aligned to the school’s vision and mission • Models and sets high expectations for professional behavior Family and Community Engagement • Engages families and community members as partners and values cultures as a resource • Maintains open lines of communication using multiple approaches to outreach QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualities and qualifications: • Evidence of experience leading students and adults to increasingly high levels of student academic achievement • Inspiring leader, able to quickly build trust and strong working relationships with students, teachers, classified staff, parents and other community members • Passion for improving education and dramatically increasing achievement and life outcomes for low-income students of color; a belief that all students can reach high levels of achievement with support from adults • Knowledge of research-based best practices in the field of education pedagogy, including common core curriculum design, professional development and assessments • Expertise in counseling, including master scheduling •  Reflective, someone who is self-aware and open to new ideas and opinions • Ability to plan and conduct professional development for large and small groups • Experience working with Special Education students, teachers, classified staff and parents preferred •  Excellent oral and written communication skills and advanced computer literacy •  Excellent human relations/customer service skills Travel Required Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.
